In this particular case Nintendo will be viewed negatively no matter what it does. If it sells out it’s because it’s intentionally limiting supply and it’s doomed; if there are too many units on shelves, then it’s because no one is buying it and Nintendo is doomed. Nintendo has to hit the Goldilocks zone, where it’s

It’s never a strategy to lose sales. All that “artificial demand” stuff is taking money out of their pockets literally, since people want to give them their money and can’t. Many will wait, others will move on to something else. You’ll never get all that money back. Whatever good PR you think you’re getting by being

To be fair, this is the largest launch manufacturing run Nintendo has ever done. The switch was a huge risk and if failed people would be on here saying “Typical Nintendo”.

I kinda surprised that anyone is surprised by how much they enjoy the Switch. It is the simpliest thing Nintendo has released since the Gamecube, and Nintendo releases a game that would easily qualify for Top 3 of the Year annually.

Or: Why do broke people sign up for stuff that gives them money? /s

I’m actually really glad they dropped the extra stuff, the Switch is fast and the OS isn’t annoying.

The video game industry is healthier with more competitors, not fewer. Unless everyone just converges to PC, we’re all better off with Nintendo making hardware.

Wow, wow, wow. Shoddy quality? Are you kidding me? It is the most beautiful and well built hardware Nintendo has ever released. Even the most skeptic of reviewers agree on this.

Ok, perhaps I misunderstood your statement. 20 for preorders, then 80 lining up. That 150 number, was that the number that Best Buy have? Or was it just a rumor and they ended up having less, leaving some people going home empty handed? Did everyone in line managed to go home with a Switch?

How is that artificial shortages? They have more stocks available during launch day, isn’t that a good thing? Pre-orders means more chances of scalpers getting their hands on the stocks. This way more people that just learned recently are able to get their hands on one.

For all it’s faults, the Wii U had a great library of games. The 3DS has put out classic after classic, too. I think the combined affection is what’s building the Switch hype. Plus, it looks super cool, and has a key feature no other home console has.

Telling you what the video is about would ruin the joke. Sheesh.

There’s a difference I believe. This year I started my own business, bought and remodeled a house, and in general have just been swamped. I’ve owned every console since the n64, most on day one. The switch will be no different, it’s already shipped on its way to me. I still read Kotaku multiple times a day and

My point being that Overwatch’s numbers haven’t tanked. Also, you’re comparing a full priced game to a game anyone with a smart phone can play for free.

I’ve played lots of games since Overwatch came out, and I still love Overwatch.

Yeah, those 25 million players are totally playing an overrated game!

So fucking lame, dude. Get a job or a hobby and stop posting on stories just to shit on Nintendo.

Yeah! Actual games like Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Pikmin, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Splatoon... oh wait...

Yeah, but they are getting additional features such as multiplayer which can be played on the Switch because it automatically comes with two controllers whereas with the Vita, it was hard to find somebody else with a Vita.
