Agreed. Went through 5 micro cables with my EVO 4G, but have not had a single issue with the lightning cable on any of my iOS devices.

In terms of computers, MS only makes the Surface line. Otherwise, they only supply software and OEMs provide the hardware. In terms of consoles, MS does use a proprietary connector for the XB360 controller, maybe the Xbone as well.

For a decade that same proprietary connector was used for all Apple devices, and the new connector (which will probably be used for a decade) is used on all current Apple devices.
