I once watched 24 in 24 hours. It wasn't as good as watching another season in 48hrs. Watching it in a 24hr period, you start to find yourself simply gazing away from the TV occasionally, like it's visual wallpaper. 48 hrs was great, though.

Just knowing there was a twist ruined Crying Game for me since I was able to guess it partway through…and I never try to get ahead of a narrative like that. Something about his nose tipped me off, somehow…(spoiler alert)

Somehow, only reading the description of the Tomi Ungerer movie, I immediately knew he must have been behind the disturbingly dark and cynical (and bloody) illustrations from a book from my childhood, Allumette. Its telling of the little matchstick girl story made life seem ugly and strange and depressing to me when I…

In seventh grade I gave a book report on Thinner. After I described a ball bearing being shot through someone's hand, Stephen King was banned from book reports. I used to put Strawberry poptarts in the microwave and watch them bulge and pulse and pretend it was some scene from the book (a heart beaing by itself?).…

Oh, there are certain directors who I will check out what they do no matter what, and even though I'm not keen on him (save Punch Drunk Love), he has that respect from me, because it will at least be a worthwhile effort.

I actually thought it was an old school (this is embarassing) female soul singer covering it. Guess it's been a while since I threw on some Monkees (apart from showing my then-girlfriend the best Jones bits from Head when he died).

Hopefully this isn't like There Will be Blood, where the trailer is better than the movie (I know, you disagree, but maybe I'm not alone on that).

It was basically the way that scene was put togther, I'm assuming. A montage set to a snappy song can't help but lend a certain underlying approval, even if you know that is not the intent. It was about the cook, not the after affects. It made me wonder how someone gave the nod to the usage as I was watching the show,…

Yeah, agreed (what is with O' Neal lately? between this and the Good Wife bit, he seems to be sucumbing to the compassless hater snark of the Internet). Somehow that was all clear just from reading this, or maybe it was because I actually wondered while watching the show (while trying and failing to place it as a…

This is perfect because it exposes the lameness of one of the series' few weaknesses, the music montages. I kind of hated sitting through that segmnent in the episode. Every once in a while, the show stops to indulge in a little music video/commercial that rarely adds and often detracts.

"What would you like for breakfast?"
"I think I'd like a Roxy Music album cover, with a little Ohio Players drizzled over it."
"Um, I'll ask the chef."
