Yeah, shockingly, the guys that created an almost universally acclaimed series for 4-6 seasons actually knew what they were doing some of the time.
This series should be listed among those ‘It would’ve been great of only it didn’t have those later seasons’ shows. I liked spunky working class Lorelai. Not so much after she incongruously became owner of a million dollar luxury inn. I liked overachieving schoolgirl Rory. Not so much needy neurotic college girl Rory.…
Huh... not that I’m surprised by this, but it really hammers home how much of a “catch 22" situation the film industry is in right now.
However, one can’t ignore the fact that just last month, thousands of executives at the Walt Disney Company and Fox Corporation had their temporary salary reductions restored to pre-covid levels.

“I was sort of born into a Subud cult that has ties to Islam and Indonesia and Middle Eastern spiritualism. My parents were kind of trial-and-error when it came to religion.” - Sufjan Stevens
Man, if an artist isn’t interested in participating in mainstream popular culture, I think they’re usually a little full of themselves, but fair play. Yeah, I’ve read waaaay too many advice column letters of “my relationship is dead but I love my partner’s kid, how do I get to keep seeing them if I break up?” and “my relationship is dead but my kid loves my partner, how do I avoid breaking my kid’s heart?”
Hey look, another slideshow I’m not clicking through!
Legacy season nominations are pretty common. Modern Family was, at a stretch, an award-worthy comedy for maybe 2 years and got regularly nominated for 8 or so. Everything in your first paragraph except the Mandolorian is arguably basking in a halo of better material’s glory. Hell, maybe even including the Mandolorian…

Because “Fast Ten: Your Seatbelts” is probably too much to hope for, they should name the tenth film “Fast X Furious.” To keep the “no two movies have the same naming scheme” thing going.
So, that’s what I think this trailer should be, and isn’t.
Ah, the moody, slowed-down, difficult-at-first-to-place cover song - truly the finest movie trailer trope ...
I’ve mildly considered making a fake Lizardo account as well and going around saying nothing but ingratiatingly saccharine, supportive things in The Root comments. Y’know, just to restore some balance.
In a deviation from the animated movie, Mulan doesn’t become a gifted warrior through the course of her training so much as gradually reveals her latent powers.
If Biden somehow wins it’ll be in spite of the mindset behind cultural detritus like this.
It certainly sounds insufferable, and far too long, but the review does make me ever so slightly intrigued that they (at least some of the monologues) have found an interesting angle or two from which to approach the whole concept.
