I'm on the 4th book and I agree with a lot of what the other comments say. If anything the universe he build in books 2, 3, and 4 is very cool and unique. From my understanding the rest will probably determine on how you feel about King's works in general.

Donkey Kong

Contrary to popular belief, bears did not get their name from a Chicago football team.

Yes. Other than time travel and the Yellow Card Man (which looks like the show will also rely on heavily more than the book did to illustrate Jake's consequences) the book itself is a lot more grounded in reality than other works by King. So I was just as surprised as anyone when that car came out of nowhere.

Yeah not sure if it's how I imagined YCM but the way the show portrays him is probably my biggest disappointment. And in fairness that may have been how the book described him but I imagined him a lot more menacing/crazy.

Ha ha what Potato said.

Funniest thing is those 2 events don't happen in the book. That was the producers trying to visualize how time will fight back.

One of my favorite King novels and I'm glad to hear this adaptation will be satisfying. My wife told me she liked it in the first 20 minutes which I was surprised given that she's never read the book (despite my repeated recommendation that she'd love it) and how it was all exposition. I certainly enjoy that this

I'm not saying he's actively hating on minorities racist, but it gets to the point when you read a lot of his work and he uses the token black guy that "can't talk no good missuh" but either has a lot of exposition or has the answer to save the day.

I find them enjoyable enough and by Grammy standards am happy to see them win. I find them more interesting live cause they sound just as good as they do on record so start off by watching their SNL appearance on hulu see if it's for you.

I had a conversation awhile ago about how King's black characters are "special" or talk funny. Shining, Talisman/Black House, everything already mentioned. Even if they're not described negatively it's weird how the "magical negro" trope shows up a little too much to be considered a coincidence or a one time thing.

Miller's comedy career has a lot of Chicago ties and started "making it" at the same time as Hannibal Buress and Kyle Kinane. His show "Mash Up" also was produced/directed by a Chicago-an so I think a lot of people (including myself) mistake him for being Chicago born and raised.

Yeah! Those South Park guys suck!

On a second read, he is, but has gone back to Yankee Stadium since. So true AND not true.

Was that question about "craziest thing you've read about yourself" supposed to be something true? Definitely some interesting trivia, but I assumed the question was asking for craziest rumor.

I just need a little taste… OF BURGER!

I was part of that small group where I thoroughly enjoyed both bands but yes it was very disheartening to see so many people just walk out on a show like that. Especially when you paid for the ticket!

Maybe. I'm not normally a violent person and really don't care one way or another about hipsters. So yeah I guess you could say I would punch myself in the face.

I consider them 2 of my favorite bands back in high school /college. Not sure how I feel about this in 2016 but in 2006 my head would have exploded.
