Hitting a car of similar mass at 30 mph head-on is only the equivalent of a 30 mph crash. Vehicles of different masses involved in head-on collisions are where “equivalent speed” comes into play - mostly for the smaller vehicle, as it usually gets fired backwards, which creates additional acceleration on the occupants…
I’d love to see him and Ward Burton commentating an F1 race (or any non-NASCAR race) by themselves.
It’s all good. I missed a lot more examples. I just included my favorite (KITT) and the most recent example that I know of.
I was referring to KITT.
That was definitely a full-size GM SUV.
IIRC only ‘80s Pontiac Trans Ams and Lykan Hypersports have that feature.
So if mileage becomes a problem, you’re gonna buy something that has even less range and takes at least an order of magnitude more time to “fill up”?
You might want to check out LiquidPiston. Granted, they plan to use the engine as a range extender eventually, but I don’t see why they couldn’t use it to drive a car directly (they’ve already powered a go kart with it). They also seem to be closer to real-world use than many other engine “startups”.
It’s a California-based startup trying to host a “Silicon Valley Formula 1 Grand Prix”. It would almost be wrong of them to not scream “TECH!” after every other word in an almost compulsive, reflex-like manner.
Honestly, I can’t even take credit for it. I got it from a commenter at VSB. It’s definitely my favorite Trump euphemism though.
Exactly. Most of them would be terrible even without Toupee Fiasco’s goading.
Exactly.
My first (and so far, only) time driving stick was last summer during my internship. One of my co-workers had a leased Fiat 500 Abarth, so of course it didn’t go over smoothly...
How as an F430 that expensive though? It’s now 2 generations old.
This is what happens when you remove Silicon Valley’s influence from EVs. I like it, even though I have absolutely no interest in off-roading. They need to make an “analog” EV sports car, like yesterday.
You’d probably need a trailer to pack enough provisions to wait out the time it would take to charge that thing with a portable solar array. That’s why Formula E still charges their cars with a diesel engine instead of solar and wind energy.
I’m pretty sure they’d be at least as fast as a P1 car in a straight line by the time they hit the chicanes on the Mulsanne. The P1 cars made up most of their lap time with acceleration out of the corners. Plus I never said they should run the DPi cars themselves, just that they should borrow part of the concept.
From the clips I’ve seen, the racing is indeed exciting. But the series as a whole is a massive cringe-fest with heaps of tokenism thrown in from its “manufacturer involvement”. Basically, the racing is interesting in spite of, not because of, the series.
I think FE manages to put on a show in spite of itself; its stupid gimmicks (“fanboost” and calling races “ePrix’s”); terrible tracks; and barely-there, token “manufacturer involvement”. If I actually cared about any of the drivers or “manufacturers” (c’mon GM...) I might give it a watch. If they could stop being a…
