Come on man... No one ever says something’s been happening/around for decades and meant as parts of a titular decade, it’s always about the actual passing of ten year blocks. But hey, if you’re content being obtuse, by all means...

Actually, and I just thought of this while pooping, if we’re being pedantic, the NHL awarded the city of Columbus a hockey team on June 25 ‘97, so they’re still just shy of that 20 year mark.

I’ll concede the 20 years part, since I was thinking of them starting play. But to try and move the goalposts initially to say they have played in two decades rather than having played for two decades is simply disingenuous.

I’m more than sure I’m right when I say that you didn’t actually know their first year as an organization when you said they had been around for decades when your first defense was that they were around in parts of two decades, and then moved on to they have existed for more than 10 years.

By that logic, someone that was born 12/31/09 has been around for two decades on 01/01/10. Which is stupid. You thought the Blue Jackets were around for longer than they have been, it’s okay to admit it.

Since you’ve only been here for 8 years it’s safe to say you only see the “12s” and not “Hawks fans” - yes there is a difference.

That said, there is far more to this city than the Seahawks. Seattle is first and foremost a Huskies town with a much longer history.

Seahawks - always a sell out.
Mariners - always really

17 is not 20. They have not been around for 2 decades.

Can you really have three teams in a big rivalry? I mean, I like threesomes as much as the next guy, so maybe it works for hockey teams too.

I had been in Phoenix about a year when they had their first game here. It was 102 degrees that day.

It definitely is, but I can’t see the NHL moving a team east. Makes more sense for the Yotes to go north, and move the Islanders across the sound. Hurricanes cannot and will not ever go back to Hartford. And I’m not sure I can see Hamilton as a relocation destination; they’re more likely to end up with an expansion

Well hold on there, Chet. Four out of the five teams in the WHL’s US Division are in the state of Washington. And the fifth is just across the river in Portland, Oregon.

Not having the Red Wings and the Blackhawks in the same division is wrong on so many levels.

yeah, for some reason Minnesota keeps up a rivalry with the Canucks but it is meaningless in Vancouver. It would be great to have an NHL team in Seattle but even more crucial to have the NBA return there. Supersonics were a killer franchise and should not have been allowed to leave.

They moved to Glendale. It was fairly popular when it was centrally located in Phoenix. Also Arizona is the biggest bandwagon fan state, unless your winning no one goes. The suns, dbacks and ASU know all about it.

That’s the thing, Edmonton & Calgary have each other. Vancouver needs a rival it can call its very own.

Those are some long ass drives though. Roughly the same distance from NY to Indianapolis and Chicago.

Hockey didn’t work in Phoenix, who could have predicted that?

I think that’s a great idea - give the Canucks a legitimate geographical rival.
