I can think of other ways to encourage side quests. A couple ideas....

Progress is also by way of better equipment. You could make side quests always drop the most legendary gear, and maybe reduce its drop rate in the wild in order to make those quests special.

The game also has progress by achievements unlocking

OK, so level with me here....

Even more so, it’s a game with scaling enemy levels and an overall difficulty slider. The only thing I can see XP being worth is taking more character powers, and those get gated by the story progress anyways.

*ahem* it’s resting in peace about as well as you’d expect for a game inspired by comic book heroes. :)

I understand the two. There’s a fundamental blurring between them that makes this bill insane.

Honest but silly question...  why is that precision so important they need to wait to crunch all the numbers?  Can’t they just pick a close enough number?  How does coming in half a million over or under cause such concern?
