Back in season 1, people took a while to turn. This was even reinforced "scientifically" in the season finale, but it was certainly established enough before then.

I'm not saying a feature like URL screening is inherently bad. I'm just saying that if FB is going to do that, they should not obscure it. The tooltip at the bottom of the browser says "Gismodo.com" but the link doesn't go there - that's manipulative. That's the type of think spammers like to do to your links. FB

I've always wondered (being Evil Week doesn't help) what sort of guarantee there would be that such opt-out notice was actually served.

I'm a bit unhappy with every URL running through FB. Or, at least, they need to be more transparent about that.

so once again an announcement of an announcement is considered news.

You're missing item D in why this is a terrible plan.

Frighteningly vague on what actions are considered "piracy".

Not seeing a whole lot of her point of view in those pages, just seeing the same scene only skipping the part of the book she wasn't in.

I came THIS close to dropping Stephenson's name there. I do think Snow Crash is the best novel of its decade, and Diamond Age is absolutely brilliant. but he's never had the broad commercial success of someone like Gaiman or even GRRM, so I'm wasn't sure that's all that "important" in such terms.

well I don't think she's the greatest writer by far, but I think she did have a tremendous impact. Anyone who can get that many people to pick up a book has to be noted.

I would be curious who he would put on the shortlist of close competition for that position. King? Gaiman? Rowling? other ideas?

so they're looking to prove the existence of Quantum Aether?

Black on black. That will look just great on a movie screen. They pay people real money to make these decisions???

"struggles to establish a relationship, when A is never sure who he or she will be tomorrow. "

Just in time for All Hallows Read! http://www.allhallowsread.com/

Aren't there government agencies that regulate these types of gambling devices? I mean if a slot machine was programmed to guarantee a loss 17 of 18 spins someone would crack down on that casino.

but there are no buttons. I like my page turn buttons. Why couldn't they have upgraded the screen on the $70 non-lit one? :(

What, no Spider-Man and Mary-Jane?

I've seen The Gate. These types of stories never have a happy ending.
