It’s based on the F01 7 Series platform. It’s a 7 Series for people who can’t actually afford the 7 Series.
At lesat the 5 GT is a frumpy 7 Series. A friend’s father has the 550, and I preferred the drive to my 535 ... though I did grimace at every reflection.
