It’s not just him though, it’s the entire right wing establishment. Various republican legislators are doing everything they can to make it effectively illegal to build out solar in their states.

Trump was a disaster for the American solar power industry. He ceded the entire sector to China, which now controls more than 80% of the global photovoltaic panel supply chain. If he’s elected again he will most certainly do that in other nascent industries as well. He is the death of American innovation.

I assume that since the charge is entered in the system and that the vast majority of customers paid by credit card, the company has an accounting audit trail for every cent. Unless they were somehow able to refund the overcharges to a different payment method, I’m not sure how they could skim.

Now that would be smart, but smart customer-poaching would take more than an MBA fresh out of college to pull off on a regular basis.

Based on my expectations for Hertz, I assume any customer service rep who agrees to a refund gets fired. Maybe not immediately on the spot, but that Hertz finds a way to get rid of them as soon as possible, so everyone on staff knows what will happen if they provide actual customer service.
