Carmack’s issues with Facebook were about it’s corporate organizational optimization, not the Oculus codebase. He was using ‘GPU utilization’ as a metaphor.

Surprise, surprise. Sadly he didn’t even manage to learn enough to change his mind about twitter only needing to be “50 people”.

Twitter probably can’t get down to less than 50 LAWYERS, much less 50 employees. Even the idea of only 50 engineers is patently ridiculous. You’re going to need that many people to just

If I wasn’t busy with my real, actual work, I would dip back into that first article announcing George was going over there just to re-read all the dick-riding comments about how this galaxy-brain genius was going to move mountains, just to taste how poorly they aged.

He criticizes and licks Elon’s boots in one breath.

Always remember, for every suck ass politician with low life moral fiber, there are thousands of constituents in his/her district that voted for them and continue to support their policies no matter how reprehensible.
There are a lot of small minded, bitter and ugly people in this world.

The main difference is that those old games were actually “finished” before release, rather than being pushed out “good enough” with the intent to improve things later.

Ugh. Kid sucks.

Incorrect. AIs are programs.

Don’t conflate this bullshit grift with actual fanart. And also dispense with that dumbass conspiracy theory while you’re at it.

Damn bro that’s a hell of a stretch.

I am an AI enthusiast, but holey fook, nobody is lobbying to make AI art illegal, just pay the artists for your raw materials, damn it. The voiceover AI companies could do it, so could you if you have all that money.

You’re not going to convince these folks. They literally don’t care about the theft involved, and they don’t even understand the underlying data collection well enough to understand that theft actually happened, and they don’t care to. It’s ALL strawmen about how we’re Luddites who don’t understand that the AIs are,

That update fromUnstable Diffusion is super gross. What are they creating. AI generated art doesn’t create anything out of nothing. It needs art to exist. you’re not creating, you’re stealing.

I get it can be difficult to understand when you lack the imagination and expertise to make something yourself.

Kickstarter is for projects. The word “project” implies some amount of work. Telling an algorithm to spit out an image copied from other people’s art is not work. Pretty straightforward.

I agree IF, and only if, the AI in use is trained on artwork either created by the person using it, or informed, opt-in volunteers. That’s not how most of them work. Most datasets are trained from art scraped all around the internet.

Their conditions for what would be acceptable are interesting because currently, AI-generated image projects satisfy absolutely none of those criteria.

It’s not a matter of slavish faithfulness, so much as trusting the source material and capturing what makes it compelling; rather than making a Doom movie without demons, or a Tomb Raider film with the supernatural elements stripped out, or slapping some shallow fanservice on an unrelated Milla Jovovich vehicle.
