I felt the series started loosing oomph and direction towards the end, but overall really liked it. Very immersive, and nice mix of “missions of the week” with longer term character development. The Master and Commander movie was damn near perfect, too, and it’s a shame we never got more of them.

Bah.  Musical episodes are just excuses to tread water plotwise while engaging in self-indulgence.  When Buffy did it it was at least novel, but now it feels as expected as the flashback-clipshow episodes of yesteryear.  

Funny Games.  I only saw the remake, and it was good and well done, but no desire to see it again.  

Yeah, that short scene/song got me into John Hartford.

All of them seemed to be using versions of their powers in that Russian attack that are much more powerful than we’ve seen them use in this timeline (with the exception of Diego’s unexplained realization he could bend the trajectory of anything, not just things he throws). Not sure what to make of it beyond maybe…

The actor playing Seth Gecko in the TV show does a good Clooney impersonation.

They’re turning into Starwipe without the satire or humor.

This show had gargoyles, Macbeth, and the Illuminati. It was fucking great.

I also got into 1865 because of this column, and agree it was incredible. I hadn’t listened to any radioplay type podcasts before, and it sold me on the potential.

There was some levity in his role as the Cooler King in the Great Escape, but that’s the closest I can think of to McQueen being Sundance.

Getting back on TV would do it, since they could use him as a director in the control room again.

That makes more sense than the Russians capturing Hopper.  If he’s alive, I figure it’s because he jumped/got sucked into the gate and is in the Upside Down.
