I’d like to think I would too. I guess I’m just not optimistic that the rest of the culture would not respond the same.
Thanks for giving me your insight - I don’t dispute that he’s a skilled player who does a lot to provide enjoyable content and interaction with his fans.
^ Or calling people a “white knight cuck” unironically, like, how does being a male feminist and unthreatened by feminine success make me “cucked”?
It was between him and his partner until he got the entire internet involved by making a video about it, holding himself ‘accountable’ to his fans, and then leaving for a couple months.
Take a look at how you equate exploiting sexuality to cheating on your spouse, and using that as justification to treat that someone like less than human, then get back to me.
Agreed on all counts. Although just because I acknowledge that reality doesn’t mean I have to like it or be quiet about it.
Ah, yes the ever internet favorite “I never had an argument i was trolling and being ironic this whole time” escape, how did I not see that coming, foiled again!
Don’t disagree on any particular remark here. I’m not saying he’s completely reprehensible for what he’s done - He apparently believed in holding himself accountable enough to involve his fanbase, and not dodging the questions about it was commendable.
I’m not taking it that way, and I appreciate the healthy debate. Better than a lot of the responses I got for this post that I’ve been going through this morning. I tend to fire a comment off on here at lunch/break time at work and then not check it again til I have more free time, and man, the amount of responses I…
Not necessarily true, but easily supported by enough data set to extrapolate it as the most likely outcome. I get that they’re excited he’s back (even if I don’t particularly enjoy his brand of “entertainment”). I understand people make mistakes.
I understand that he’s an entertainer, and enjoying his content is separate from most people’s opinion of his actual character. For some, it’s hard to separate the art (generously defined here) and the artist (again, generously) depending on the degree.
Size of the audience is irrelevant (aside from the level of donations that could be received). The response would be equivalent, it just wouldn’t make enough viewers to warrant a discussion on Kotaku about it.
To be fair, I think the poll was strongly misworded. I think Cleveland was trying to ask if there should be emphasis on developing the core game, or on character customization (which would have been a much better wording) and he oversimplified it by simply writing “play as a female.” The game does have a character…
I understood the target of your taunt. I don’t follow every streamer out there, but if we want to get really hypothetical, on an internet with billions of users and on a platform with millions of people trying to “make it big” on streaming, there exists some probability something similar has happened, just not to…
All fair - I specialize in generalized cynical quips myself. I employed a few of them to the more...interesting responses I got for this comment.
There are no third person options, and the “pain” noises when you get hurt are male, but you are essentially a body with arms and legs and no discernible face.
I understand finding entertainment value in a performance, especially when someone is committed to a certain character or persona, but *I personally* don’t get the humor/entertainment value of his particular brand of it. I prefer to watch streamers who are more fun/positive with their viewer base, or who’s schticks…
Dude got a $5000 donation from a single viewer. It’s very possible he easily made five or six digits in donations from a single day of streaming alone.
