Am I the only one getting the tiniest bit tired of the "Doctor who?" gag? I get it, its the first question, very meta, but honestly, it's getting a bit trite.

Was anybody else really concerned when Clara was climbing the stairs that in his depression, the Doctor had fixed the chameleon circuit?

Buzz on Twitter was that the Christmas Special had a...mixed reaction among Whovians.

Fair enough - suspension of disbelief is a delicate thing, and we all have our tipping points in different places. Know what bugs me beyond reason in Star Trek — the magical universal translator, that makes everyone speak perfectly idiomatic late 20th century American English. And somehow can do it in first contact

The Doctor's seeming infatuation with her feels forced and out of place at this point...

And creatures/monsters dissolving into clouds of liquid.

I have nothing against Jane Espensen — she's a remarkably talented writer, and I've certainly done my fair share of bitching about the gender gap in the writers' rooms of SF/fantasy shows. (Which particularly confused me where Doctor Who is concerned, because since the revival it's always had a female executive

Perhaps there's a certain arrogance (and needless defensiveness) about being so hostile to the idea that different audience experience things in different ways. And you know what, the United States isn't the center of the cultural universe around which all else revolves.

Oh, also - if they want to get women writers involved, someone should offer Jane Espensen the chance to write an episode.

I guess so - but it's still weird. Never got the impression that Lucasfilm licensed anything on the cheap, and it seems to me that if someone is going a good, profitable, brand-enhancing job you leave it alone. Then again, I don't have John Carter on my resume so what do I know? :)

Plus, if you like musical show SMUSH! the brit guy from that show plays the lead character.

It is, but I think it's a real tribute to all involved that it's almost all (and very skilfully) implied. IIRC, Channel Four commissioned a second series but (basically) Joe Aherne couldn't come up with a set of script that worked for him, and sadly I agree with him that it's better to fade out that piss it all away

Not surprisingly, there are rumors that now that Disney owns Lucasfilm, they want to bring the Star Wars comics in-house

Just between us, Grown Up Will Smith makes me cross a lot these days. :)

How is Prometheus in the Worst list?

Fair enough, but the worse thing I can say about MIB III is that... I don't actually remember much about it. For true Bottom Ten Hall of Shame majesty, a films has to be something I spend months desperately trying to repress all memory of. Like watching Johnny Depp torture his career to death like a sugar-hyped

This is why it's really a good idea to have someone around who'll say "no, that's a shitballs idea and you can't have it" even if you're a Golden Geek God. Take note, Sir Peter Jackson.

But that's what the internet is for — along with shopping and porn. Didn't you get the memo? :)

Really? Look, I don't know how familiar you are with this guy's work - but I don't think he needs to get his career "back" (The Good Wife may not be your cup of tea, but he's doing just fine there) and in interviews he pretty much has no filter between his brain and mouth when asked a direct question. Yeah, spending

Quite - and I'm going to commit Trek blasphemy here, but while I adore TOS there's a lot about it that makes me cringe. I'm not the same person in 2012 I was sitting waaaay too close to the television in the mid 70's. I've changed. The world has changed. And, yes, so has Trek. And that's not necessarily a bad
