Every recent new car I’ve driven had shown some “you are responsible” screen on the display when the car is started. Isn’t it obvious that the meatbag at the wheel is responsible for keeping the 2 ton killing machine between the stripes?

This x1000. This is why it’s the law in a lot of places that if you rear end someone you’re ALWAYS the one at fault. Why? Because there’s always something you could’ve done (spoiler alert: it’s stop tailgating) to avoid the collision.
At this point in the evolution of autonomous driving, it is ALWAYS the drivers fault. You are not supposed to completely disengaged from driving.
A machine that doesn’t cease operation and fail safe when it receives known bad inputs (or no inputs at all) is in fact letting you not operate it properly.
Why are we shouting that Tesla “let” the driver do anything? Is the licensing process for operating these machines that meaningless now? As someone licensed for the privilege to drive cars on public roads (yes, it’s a privilege and should be regarded as such) everyone should be fully aware of their responsibilities…
“Dated styling” - have you’ve seen one in person? “Dated is the very last word I’d use to describe the NSX.
I see this is a true flaw of the MANUFACTURER -> PRESS -> CONSUMER
Jesus Christ, I’m so tired of Americans being too stupid to understand when they’re contradicting themselves.
Well according to him, a weaker yuan is indeed bad and means they are a “currency manipulator.”
I wasn't aware that Trump thought it a good idea that the Yuan weaken. Quite the reverse in fact
It looks good in real, much wider than on picture (thatswhatshesaid.gif)
True, engineering is about compromises and nothing is really ever perfect, but my point was that automakers have created criteria like graded bolts, and the “automotive grade” electronics testing and validation criteria for exactly these reasons. Throwing out the rules in some cases makes sense, EVs are very different…
That’s some very extensive mental masturbation you are partaking in.
“A phone without a physical keyboard is just bad design”
Tesla keeps the prices of EVs high because.. they need to make money and fund their R&D. Other automakers haven’t gotten into the EV game widespread because they cannot figure out how to make the same margins with them they are making with ICE vehicles.
Competition is certainly good, but so far every automaker attempt…
Exactly! I know it's what folks do here, whine and complain about everything, but you still have to look at your dials! They are literally crying about looking at a screen for a sec vs looking at a dial for a sec.
While I agree that some things should have a dedicated switch/button, I haven’t seen a car since 1987 that didn’t require you to look down at a climate control button or switch (or screen) to see what temp it was set at, or what mode it was in.
“the Trump machine is understandably devolving into slight chaos.”
Fuel and emissions standards spurred more innovation in the automotive industry than any other factor in the history of the industry.
