Well, no one in the US does it.

No, because its not worth the effort for me. I am just saying that the current system is somewhat crazy and completely arbitrary.  Lest you ride off on your high horse, don’t forget that you are supposed to remit sales tax on every used bike you sell on craigslist too. You doin’ that?

You guys are all making these car owners out to be monsters, but this is fairly standard stuff across a lot of categories. Most COMPANIES in the US are registered as Delaware corporations and that has been standard for 50 years.

You are assuming the taxes are fair in the first place. I don’t have a supercar, but I sell and by my cheap cars much more frequently than the average car owner. If I drive the same number of miles, what is the moral justification for spending  4x the taxes? Its a system that doesn’t make any sense.

How joyless is your existence that you would have the time, energy and desire to complain about an ad like this.

Accurate

When the EQC range was announced, everyone said 220 miles was totally unacceptable. Curious to see what people say now. Sure the Model X is great, but it is a LOT more expensive.

I failed you. I brought the 996. Next time.

I’d say you would have a fair shot a getting this titled and registered as a home-made car.

I’m in. Should I bring my crappy 996 4s or my crappy 1980 FJ40?

I look forward to this pushing down the prices of GT350's on the used market.

I can’t find any hard evidence to back up what you are saying, but I certainly tons of similar anecdotes myself. I am 38, and I have only purchased one new car in my life and that was because I bought the cheapest car for sale (Nissan Versa) using the cash for clunkers program to get 33% off. Drove it for 4 years. No

Well you are certainly right that if you prevent people from making a bad decision they won’t do it. That said, I am not a big believer in restricting those sorts of decisions. I am a believer in educating consumers and personal responsibility.

Don’t make excuses for poor decision making. The average price of cars is going up for a number of reasons, but that doesn’t mean more affordable options are not out there. People are ego-buying cars and there are loans to help them do it. Of course people “want nice” but its only recently that people feel they

Dang. Hard to justify that kind of price for something that “might” work. With modern cars, it really feels like these deep codes fly in the face of the “right to repair” act. I hope someone brings a class-action lawsuit some day. Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

If I got one of these, could it be used to read the deeper BMW specific codes? Also, can it be used to reprogram the new components that have to be matched to the ecu

I hear ya, but partially it has to do with resale value. I have a family member that is plowing all his savings into a crazy piece of property. Giant Chinese Pagodas, 3 story stone gates, and a 19th century western saloon (so far). Each of those probably cost $100k+ each. While he is very happy, that money is

Ugh, this. How in the world have truck beds gotten higher while ground clearance is the essentially the same?? We actually use our trucks as trucks and its exhausting getting craps into the beds of these new trucks. I end up using my little S10 on the ranch more than the full size ones for this reason.

I used to be this way, but now I allow ~30-45 minutes or so of screen time after school. It really lets the boys chill out. We still do something outside almost every day, but that (highly desirable) screen time has really improved their attitudes and focus on homework.
