I don’t follow the logic on this one. Tesla has already proven the market for high-end electric vehicles. The i8 seems to be doing well too. The Ferrari California/599 proved there is a strong market for GT cars. The Asterion would have slotted above those and sold like hotcakes regardless of which hybrid drivetrain

My 4 -banger 2wd S-10 has helped me renovate two houses to the studs and will be moving drywall this weekend. Last weekend it was moving bits for my 911. It has towed my boat, pulled my ‘41 Chevy (Don’t recommend this, but it can be done). Next year it will be my main tool for planting 500 grape vines.

I dont know, I would not say it “isn’t quite as nice”. The interiors are exactly the same as the base model except it has some wood trim and a leather dash/console. It is a pretty far cry from a 5 series.

See, the interior on these trucks is “nice” but not nearly as nice as say, a 5 series. If you sit in a Platinum then in a 535i you will see pretty quickly why Ford clears $10K per truck.

Next year they are coming out with the “King Diamond” top trim level. It is blacked out and and has a tophat for a hood ornament.

I did that trail in a 2002 Toyota Sienna, fully loaded with family. It is a vibration test (enough to loosen the fuel pump power line causing us to stall in the desert for a while a few hours later) but hardly a bar for a 4wd vehicle.

I gotta be honest. If I had seen a five pack of brass knuckle for 4 I would have purchased it. I dont need them _now_, but you never know, I might take up a life bookmaking. And you can wear through brass knuckless pretty fast in that game.

I got to beat on one of these at the AMG Academy. They slot into an interesting spot price wise below the M2. Basically, the same price as a Focus RS. The power is great, the noise is AMAZING, but the interior is pretty crap. Like all FWD it has real problems putting the HP down in the corners. The understeer is

Thanks to CAFE standards, small trucks are dead in this country forever (or they move to electric). Don’t you just love the irony of short-sighted government policies?

Seriously. You’ll get my 2003 S10 when I am six feet under. Perfect trucks, back when truck meant “affordable tool for doing things”. I have renovated 2 houses, moved my 21 foot boat and towed my 1941 Chevy with it. What in gods name are you people doing with the giant monsters?

Stop trying to make the VR-4 happen. Its never going to happen. They were heavy, unreliable lumps and they are never going to see the appriciation of a Z/911/M because they are impossible to maintain. They are not even that fun to drive.

Ugh. I feel for your (future) kids and the unimaginably grey and boring life they will lead. I am proud of my kids bumps, scrapes and bruises.

I think relatively few people in the US think it is “acceptable” either. They just do it because they don’t think they are drunk. Or they don’t want their car to get towed. Or its “just a few miles home”.

Oh fantastic. As if we needed some other reason for people to gawk and slow down MoPac traffic from 8mph to 3.

With the F-type R, The AMG GTS and the Cayman GTS all besting the performance I only see GranTurismo car as a competitor with the M6 and the SL63. Those are some heavy hitters in terms of brand recognition, features and (comparative) reliability. It just isn’t wild enough to steal sales based on sexiness alone.

It is handsome but the design is not “Italian” enough for me. My expectation is that I concede something in the reliability department for unique looks when I get an Italian car. This would surely leave me stranded, but now I don’t have anything beautiful to look at while I wait for the tow truck.

I WANT to love the XJR. There is so much to love on that machine. But while their “worst days” may have passed by 1999, those are by no means reliable as they age. You might be able to buy it, but you cannot afford to own it.

Neil Patel did an interesting right-up on this subject. His conclusion was that it does work, but that you can just rent the car and get the same effect.

You are correct. This is the only acceptable livery. I would make the pilots play that song loop anywhere we flew. Also, didn’t they park it in a mountain? I would need a mountain. .

If you are buying it because of what other people think, sure. As an object of daily delight for yourself? It makes a lot of sense to me.
