Yikes. The v6? A.K.A The “Frog Motor” isn’t a high-point for volvo reliability.

What, are we encouraging people to panic call 911 every time someone has an empty tube in their car? How are people supposed to react?

I am sort-off with you. I still liked the show, but ya, it was SO contrived over the last few seasons that all the interactions felt forced. Cars exploding with them in them [cut to May holding a steering wheel in a hole]? What is this, Looney Toons? The show was at its best when it had less money.

I know a nationally ranked bull rider who mostly drives a 10 year old camry. Only car people think cars are correlated to your personality.

I misread the headline and thought you could buy a retro-styled interior dash in a modern Porsche as an option. Got excited for a second.

“Played out” means its the perfect time to get in. No one is “impressed” by these cars but they do represent a hell of a good value and are and exceptional choice for a daily driver.

Yes, the tankers are the interesting part. It would suggest that the target might require a lot of “loitering” like an assassination/convoy strike. That would also imply assets on the ground.

I don’t know. Well maintained highway miles are not the same as a lifetime of Goobers from Bumblefuck USA revving the hell out of the engine on the strip and taking every corner at 9/10ths. Well maintained doesn’t mean that every part on that car from door-handles to bushings isn’t about to go tomorrow.

You are not wrong on any point. However, I am now the high bidder. Objective: Troll the Austin Ferrari Club.

Horrifically unreliable. Weak interiors. Slower than all of their competitors in the day. What is your definition of “nice”? “Interesting”? Sure. “Unique”? Absolutely. But those are not nice cars.

You are probably right regarding the unions, but if they had as much power as we believed, Uber wouldn’t be around.

While the article is a bit breathless and chicken-little-y I think the underlying concepts are very real. Even if you reduce the impact by 90% of their prediction we are talking about a multi-billion economic shift. It is hard for economies to ingest that quickly.

While in theory, what you are saying is true. The rate of adoption and scale of the disruption are unprecedented. We had decades to to deal with the industrial revolution. When automated taxis and long-haul truck are rolled out those jobs will be eliminated in perhaps a ~5 year period. That is a LOT of shock for an

Exactly. Its like sailboats. Sure, they attract enthusiasts, and will persist, but they are so far removed from the average consumers minds as to be irrelevant.

As a marketer with a lot of experience on digital marketing attribution modeling, I can confidently say that a heavy emphasis on social media is not likely to be a good investment for _most_ dealerships. The ROI just isn’t there for the time it would take to maintain an impactful social presence. Sure, don’t have a

That sound? Oh, thats just me crying because I sold mine 6 years ago for $9k

This is a silly over reaction. There is danger everywhere. We should manage risks appropriately. By your measure their is no reason to own a kitchen knife right? We can all just order McDonalds.

I love me some volvo’s (formerly 744Ti 5mt heavily modified owner) but at this price point there are just so many other better choices. I like the v60, but I just cannot imagine buying one.

This is a good development. I like the idea of high-end sports cars falling in price. Call it derivative, call it ugly, call it what you want, but at the end of the day if you could halfway decent track car for 1/3 the price of the competition, I would be all over it.

Wait, did you forget to get the butterbeans at Opies? Next time, let me know, I have about 250 feet of paved road you can use for burnouts about 2 minutes from Opies.
