I'm watching some of my favorite twitch streamers play it, but it just makes me want to play it myself. I'm not about to shell out upwards of 500 bones for one game, though. I find that it's a lot harder to get a feeling of a game (especially the game's map layout) when watching someone else play it.
When I first played the game, I didn't have any reason to suspect that I was doing the "wrong" thing. It's not like the Colossi try to run away. When they see you, they attack. I felt more triumphant than sad when I brought one of them down.
This game has one of my all time favorite soundtracks. I also have a huge soft spot for dynamic music changes in games, which this one has in spades. The Zelda series is also really good at this (at least in Twilight Princess and onward).
What's crazy about Phalanx is that you don't realize that it doesn't try to kill you until after you've defeated it.
Phalanx would like to have a word.
Yeah the combat in Ico is more or less a chore that you have to do. It fits in with the theme and story, but it's just not fun at all. Thankfully, combat isn't a huge focus, and you can typically spend a minute or so cleaning up every enemy before you go to progress.
The map isn't all that helpful, though, and only gets filled out as you travel across the land. The glowing sword is a very cool element, though, because it feels less like the game is leading you down a path and more like you're actively finding something. Also, little things like not being able to actually use the…
Also I think Parks & Rec dropped all pretense of using the mockumentary format a couple seasons before it ended, which is another signifier that it's overdone.
Damn, Spheda was a lot of fun.
It's hard to stack the series against each other, which probably shows just how diverse the series is. Like, I would never be able to compare V and XII (two of my favorites), because they play completely differently and have completely different tones.
You should try Hammer. It's by far my favorite weapon to use so far. Charge Blade is also really fun to use if you can get the mechanics down right, and the in-game tutorials for it aren't all that helpful, since they leave out a ton of the mechanics. Probably better to just watch a Youtube tutorial for each weapon…
I've been kicking around the idea of starting up a WAYPTW (with "Week" being the last word) thread on the Steam forum, for general gaming discussion regarding new and interesting games, as well as older games people decided to pick up that week.
Play through Hotline Miami 2 on hard mode. It's very challenging, but also feels pretty rewarding.
Please post about that mod here once you're done with it. I would definitely be interested in it.
Depends on which game you're talking about.
Ori is a pretty good game, but I don't really understand the hype. It's pretty short and the combat is more annoying than fun. The platforming and exploration is cool, though.
Yup, for once I'd like to see a Final Fantasy game where all the characters aren't animes.
Pretty much every school of magic kind of blows in the DLCs. It's probably best to just pop a soul vessel and switch to a melee build.
I definitely agree with that. Ash and Alex is my favorite to play as and I've used the gun more to bring guys closer to me than to actually dispatch enemies. I wish I could play as them for the entire game.
