Russians are far, FAR more pessimistic than even the most pessimistic American right now. Many of them actually believe life was better under authoritarian rule vs. Communism.

The US economy can’t sustain itself on oligarchs alone. It never, ever, ever pays off. Housing crisis made a lot of shady banks a lot of money, but those same banks lost a ton of money because regular folks couldn’t afford those houses.
