Walt let Jane die. He poisoned a child. He killed Mike!

That burn courtesy of a cringey bit of Game of Thrones dialogue!

I am so glad I tried to go in as cold as possible on the choices in adaptation and casting on this show. Thanks to Hannibal I know Bryan Fuller and Gillian Anderson vibe really well, but squeezing great performances out of DANE COOK and CRISPIN GLOVER?

"Bryan Fuller! Your shows are always so immaculately cast and acted. thematically profound, and visually sumptuous!
How do you do it?"

With Atlanta Brian Tyree Henry has joined the ranks of Martin Freeman and John Krasinski as actors who make a name for themselves in a role where they consistently say so much with one incredulous, disdainful look.
I cackled at the invisible car callback, but what got me guffawing the hardest was the fan reciting Paper

THC in this show looks like mustachio'd Martin Freeman and sounds like Greg Proops but I still find him irresistible <3

Come on, no mention of the "tits and blood" line? I'm not sure if it was meant as a jab at Game of Thrones specifically or just a pre-defense against the people who dismiss HBO's titlating but deep content at their own peril.

This has actually become somewhat of a hatewatching tradition for me as someone who loves the character and watches every other CW-verse DC TV show regardless of their fluctuating quality. Every premiere and crossover episode I check in with Arrow to see if it still sucks. I'm never (not) disappointed.

I just watched Defending Your Life for the first time and it's gonna make an interesting point of comparison.

This show actively sidesteps dismissal in its dialogue where most shows with self-conscious writers would be content to just hang a lampshade on their lazy tropes. Van and Earn's exchange about the cliche of chasing half-assed rap dreams that Joshua points out is evidence enough for me that it won't let its depiction

"It’s too soon to fret about Van after three episodes, but I really like the character and I’m concerned about her getting painted into a long-suffering baby-mama corner."
I wouldn't worry about it, this show continues to impress me with its complexity.
"Why are you always making me be the Angry Black Woman?"
"Because

"Good, if too on-the-nose" describes all of the musical choices this episode for me. The second half was just an embarrassment of riches of ironic use of excellent music.

After a season of Cassidy shitting on The Big Lebowski, I feel like the Saint of Killers stinger was an apologetic nod to Raising Arizona.

Spy Kids 3D and Sharkboy and Lavagirl are just plain crimes against cinema, even before you factor in the bad 3D. I'll still happily defend Rodriguez, though. He and George Lucas singlehandedly ushered in digital, for better or worse.

I saw Sin City 2 alone in an empty, tiny theater after class one afternoon. I know it's a sequel far diminished from the hypernoir original, but the unreality of that movie is really augmented by 3D. I had a blast.

Since when has Adam F. Goldberg himself been participating in these forums? That's super freakin' cool.

Can we talk about Gay Homer? There's just a flamboyant doppelganger running around Springfield and they're gonna waste it on one weirdly underplayed throwaway gag?

Y'all better step off!
This is Dannis Ree's turf!

Gotta eat the booty like groceries!

After last season's finale I want a Me & Clara spinoff but that is like ten kinds of impossible.
I really thought they were seriously considering a Paternoster Gang show for a while there, though. What's not to love about that concept?
