You are missing the fact the the injectors run at 30,000 psi to atomize fuel through impossibly small holes in the injector. The eco diesel is DOHC with a long timing chain. Also the incredibly complicated, expensive and filled with small holes exhaust emission system means there is a lot more that can go wrong

All Teslas have a gearbox, it’s single speed but still gearbox. In the model S it’s 9.73:1 so most likely a double reduction so quite costly as far as gears go. Luckily it doesn’t have hypoid gears which are more costly.
