Thank you for calling this out! I was amazed, looking at TLo’s recap of this years Costume Designer’s Guild Awards, that Kalfus wasn’t even nominated. I’ve seen very few movies where the costuming was as essential to the storytelling as this one, not to mention Kinsey-spectrum-shiftingly gorgeous. Did she piss off

Here’s the thing - I KNOW there was something which fits the bill here, which I first encountered not knowing it was a parody. I know, know, know there was - but it’s dancing just outside the grasp of my old brain’s recall.

I was educated in the 70's in the south and we were taught that slavery was horrific and wrong. Full stop. I was an adult before I heard the term “the war of northern agression.” We have Nixon’s southern strategy of mobilizing (and normalizing) white racism to thank for where we are right now.

Neither a TV reviewer, nor anyone else, should have to read the source material in order to understand or appreciate a TV adaptation. An adaptation must stand on its own merits or it is a failure as an adaptation. Do you HAVE to read the Lord of the Rings trilogy or the Harry Potter novels in order to understand the

Nope. I posted this last week, too, but if it’s necessary to have read the books to understand the show, then the show has failed.

I honestly can’t tell if this is real or not.  If not, good work.

Who knew all it took for Leslie Jones to have a great starring sketch was for her to get into a heated Weezer debate with Matt Damon? Such a wonderfully niche yet all-too relatable premise executed perfectly.

Like so many other devoted Deadspin readers, I’ve read every single word Drew has written over the last decade or so. He’s just about my favorite voice on any topic he chooses to cover. I’ve watched the entire internet be influenced by his style since the KSK days.

One thing Drew wrote last year(about John Krakauer’s biography of Pat Tillman) that has stuck with me ever since:

Drew, love everything you write and say on your dumb podcast. I hate reading books and read all yours within the same week of starting them. You are a marvel with words and every bit the crotchety and yet truly endearing man I want to be like one day. The love you write with when talking about your kids and wife is

The really sad thing about this ep was that while it was a lovely skewering of the bullshit dominance mumbo jumpbo that the right wing buys into, the gang is still not as terrible as the people they are parodying.

I like her performance, because she nails the most important part of the “ditzy broad” character - you’re never quite sure whether she’s very stupid, or very smart about pretending to be stupid.

Bad Take.

They look so happy!

No, sweets, I don’t want a response from The Atlantic or its bigoted writers. I’m perfectly fine dissembling their hateful garbage from over here where I don’t give them a shred of credibility through further association nor do I lend credence to the idea that we can re-package and re-market their bigotry with

The rather unprofessional approach to interview aside, and I don’t want the meat of this article to get lost in the anger (righteous, albeit)...

My boss believes in all of this stuff (anti-vax, anti-flu shot, anti-milk, 9/11 conspiracy stuff) and constantly tells me that I need to get myself “educated” like him and how “surprised” he is that a smart person like me would just blindly believe whatever society tells me. As if reading geocities pages from rambling

Congratulations to Kirby Howell-Baptiste for surviving both this show and Barry!

I think the French lady was saying “ours,” which is French for “bear.”

Loved this bit. McCarthy’s so talented. Between her Mrs. Che and Bailey’s bit, the guests on this week’s Weekend Update were fantastic. Lifted up a rather meh offering otherwise.
