That was also my first question after reading this.

No kids yet myself, but now that my friends’ kids are starting to go to school, what’s shocking to me is how the schools in my city (Toronto) are MORE segregated than when I went to school in the 1990s. By a lot.

But poorer than what? I highly doubt these kids are going to be put in the lowest performing schools. They’re going to be put in adjacent schools that aren’t quite as good and they’re going to be fucking fine.

This is what I keep coming back to.

I get that it can’t be Lake Woebegone (where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average), but man, there’s no reason for the difference to be anything other than marginal.
