As a 26-year-old woman, I have to say I have very rarely had success dating men even my own age, let alone younger. I do think that for the duration of one’s 20s, men really truly do mature more slowly than women do - not because of some inherent difference, of course, but because they often aren’t expected/required

I don’t have children myself, but I work with teenagers (many of whom are very much like the way you describe your son as being, and with a lot of money to back up their world views) and I think it really just comes down to empathy. Some people naturally have more of it than others, but teens have especially little,
