Blondie + Garbage + Deap Vally?
Blondie + Garbage + Deap Vally?
That was a good cover; it was the Austen and Bronte covers that struck me as being very cynical.
I absolutely f-ing hated that! Not that the Darryl Sweet covers were masterpieces, but that at least evoked a high fantasy feel. I had to import American editions of the last 5 books in order to have a matching set.
Billy Joel, Return Of The Jedi, Final Destination…
I saw that header image with the Near Dark cover, and a loud "No!" just slipped out.
More like: Any time they arbitrarily decide to abruptly revert a character back to a previous, supposedly more 'definitive' version - as opposed to organically changing the character through good storytelling - it's cheap and cynical.
I hated the idea of the New 52 when it happened. I was very angry. Some of the books turned out good, and some of them turned out bad. I got used to it. The motivation was misguided, but the writers could have moved beyond that.
But regardless, when you commit to something like that, you stick with it. You don't…
That post gets my vote for 'lowest moment' in AV Club history
You know what the solution for poorly-received Flash and Wonder Woman runs should be? Write better Flash and Wonder Woman stories. And that shouldn't require you to change continuities on a character-by-character basis.
It's like I'm in a mirror universe where the safest, most pandering, artistically bankrupt…
It is actually. It's a great comic, regardless of what the trolls think.
Yeah, because Convergence was such a hot seller that everyone read and loved…
It was a last minute ass pull and everyone knows it. They had even announced an upcoming storyline 'Super League' which they scrapped to make way for Superdad.
And the fact that you're referring to him as 'Real-Supes' illustrates my problem.…
yes but sales =/= quality. Especially in the comics world.
Yeah, well, and tough shit to all of us who've been reading Superman since the New 52 began and enjoyed Grant Morrison's and Greg Pak's takes on the character, right?
Because thank god we've got the good ol' pre-52 Superman of such classic stories as New Krypton and Grounded back.
I just can't get over the fact they they killed of the canonical Superman and Lois, and replaced them with older models with no build-up or grace, including giving them a son and all this character development off screen, and readers are apparently fine with it. It's as if DC threw up their hands and said "We don't…
Marmite is garbage.
I eat vegemite on toast at least twice a day. The trick is to mix it with the butter to dilute it a little, and swirl it around to create an uneven texture.
I'm generally not one for 'Marvel vs DC' malarkey, but I have noticed a trend in this column lately where Marvel can do no right, and DC gets away with a lot. Case in point: last week's wilful misreading of the current Captain America run.
Why no mention of Marvel's actual female writers like Kate Leth, Kelly Thompson,…
"Distracted by his fascination with Barbara"
You all should read her book. It's very insightful into the life of a steadily working but not super famous actor.
The idea that Batman NEEDS to realize Superman's humanity is what is so stupid.
First, the idea that Batman ever stopped being a humane, caring person himself is awful.
Second, the idea that he didn't do his research and already know Superman's secret identity and history makes him lame. He's supposed to be the 'World's…
