I'm am so goshdarn envious right now. Yield was my first favourite Pearl Jam album, and while I acknowledge Ten and Vs are superior, Yield is the one I return to most often. After their first two, it has the lowest proportion of filler, and the high points are very very high indeed. 'Do The Evolution' has to be their

Her silver suit on the Fallon show won her a special place in my heart.

'Before The Beginning', nice choice!

Honestly, I can see how they could call any song from that album 'incongruous'. Free of context, would anybody assume that 'Radio Song', 'Near Wild Heaven', 'Belong' and 'Country Feedback' are by the same band? Out Of Time is probably their most diverse album, and for R.E.M., that's saying something.

You know what I'm pissed about? That by the time Netflix finally reaches Australia, it won't resemble the Netflix that has had all of you yanks obsessing over it for the last decade, and instead we'll have to wait even longer for all of these shitty new apps to arrive.

I once made separate playlists of the Lindsey songs and the Stevie/Christine songs from Tusk. Both were excellent albums.

"trivial betrayals to coolness"
That's it in a nutshell.

He gave the mid-70s Mac a healthy dose of weirdness too - 'Bermuda Triangle', 'Night Watch', 'The City'.

I'll add 'Come A Little Bit Closer', 'Show Me A Smile' and 'Spare My A Little Of Your Love' to that list.

I'd love to visit the universe where a song as weird as 'Lotus' is considered 'generic'.

I can't believe I forgot a Stevie song! Actually, I was just listing my favourite songs as they came to mind, but then Disqus went haywire went I tried to re-edit it.
I think 'Rhiannon' would be her signature song, but my personal favourite would probably be 'Sara'.
And yeah, a Mac top 10 could consist almost entirely

Yeah, that's how I feel, as an Australian, whenever someone acts like Back In Black was AC/DC's debut or something.

'Watercolour music' is the best way I've heard to describe that era of Mac. It also encapsulates the feel I get look at the album cover of Kiln House.

"lulling listeners into a false sense of security by having the “pop” hit first, before devolving into weirdness."

In that case, avoid their cover of 'Beat On The Brat'

I LOVE 'Radio Song'. I love it to pieces. I love the soaring opening scene-setting strings. I love the crazy rhythmic organ stabs. I love the funk guitar line; it's just so catchy. I…don't hate KRS-One's guest verse. I just love everything about that song. It's by far my second favourite off that album, after 'LMR'.
And

Okay, this really needs to be longer.

Exactly. I was after they tried to replicate the unexpected success of 'Kokomo' that the wheels really fell off.

For my money, it goes:

Scrolled down to ensure that Sunflower is listed as an 'Essential'. Disappointed. Their best 'group' LP by far.
