That would be my ideal version too. With two movies, you could include ALL the details and subplots from the book, like the bark trolls, Ygrammul, Hero Hynreck, the many-coloured desert, the picture mine. All of it!
I'm waiting on a faithful, full adaption of the book. And one that doesn't end by inverting the message of the book with some kind of nonsensical wish-fulfillment revenge fantasy.
I get the first part, but my problem is this:
I can see that argument. Now, having just got out of seeing the film, I don't really see how that applies to the narrative of this story. In fact, that speech seemed to come out of nowhere in this film, because it didn't really show Amy trying to live up to a 'cool girl' ideal for Nick's sake.
I want to admit to something that won't win me any points: I don't get what is so insightful and trenchant about that 'cool girl' speech. So men have idealised versions of what they want in a partner. And women do not? I would assume that everybody - man, woman, straight, gay, whatever - holds as an ideal partner…
Do you mind if I use this in real life. 'Cause I'm gonna
Except that, you know, they didn't just recreate it. They added a lot of jokes, like the forced perspective with the watch and the badge, which reminded me of Top Secret.
Did people in this thread even watch the video?
What's with all the hate up in here? If you don't find the idea of Ellen Page standing on Kate Mara's shoulders in a trench coat pretending to be a Russian drug enthusiast funny, then check your pulse.
Can someone remind me what exactly was so unspeakable about the first live episode? I can't remember it that well (except Julia Louis Dreyfuss played Liz in flashback - awesome), but I don't remember hating it.
Hearing that they screwed up Renee Montoya's character basically killed my interest in this show, which was lukewarm to begin with.
No 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix'?
This comment is so good I don't know what to say about it, except thanks!
'Trudy'. I love that.
"Its idealism and patriotism both sound a little too uncomplicated for the modern viewer … There’s a desperate need for such ideas, but bringing them front and center without interrogation is part of what makes The Newsroom feel so ridiculous for a show airing in 2014."
Yeah, New Adventures in Hi-Fi is my second favourite album, and the one I discovered R.E.M. by. But that was a bad choice for a led single.
I probably would have loved that album too, had I discovered it at the time.
Yeah, I forgot about the Oakenfold mixes.
I got nothing to add to this discussion. I just wanted to say that Zooropa is my all time favourite album.
Just compare the original mixes to the ones on the Best Of 1990-2000. They sound pitiful.
