OK, Aethelwold, we get it, you hate Alfred and think he's the worst. Now run along and play, the adults are talking.

According to his Twitter feed, he just got married and is on his honeymoon. I wouldn't want to recap this show on my honeymoon. I selfishly hope the show is still being recapped though, because I love the snarky threads it inspires.

Some historical background*, for those who are interested (MILD 9TH CENTURY SPOILERS):

I still won't be 100% happy until Uhtred says "Wyrd bið ful aræd"…

I actually convinced a friend to watch the first season based solely on me describing the cry-sturbation scene.

Heck, Uhtred doesn't like him for a while either, but the relationship grows.

Alec Newman, who plays the reeve in this show, is also in The Last Kingdom for 2 eps as King Aethelred, Prince (for now) Alfred's brother. I wonder which credit he's more likely to brag about.

At least GoT knows we're supposed to hate Joffrey and Trent. I think the show wants us to care about Zach and worry about him being corrupted and/or turned by the Master but that could only improve the little shit's 'tude.

It's definitely more accurate. I love Vikings dearly but man oh man does it play fast and loose with the timeline. And in this show Alfred is not the love child of a sexually confused blue-eyed monk.

I wish we saw more of Ragnar's unique way of showing love. You know he was the ultimate Fun Dad.

By Viking tradition, Uhtred's father had a very good death. It was in battle, and he was holding his sword, so he'll go to Valhalla. One thing that Uhtred is very concerned about in the books is that he always has his sword handy so he can die that way.

Or cute English monks.

It's easier to list the historical characters than the ficitonal ones. In ep 1, the historical dudes on the Viking side are Ubba and Guthrum the Unlucky, who was shown very briefly before the big battle. On the Saxon side there's the kings Aella and Osbert, who were both killed in the battle, and and Ecbert, the

Verizon Fios has ep 1 but not 2. IDEK.

I wish they kept Brida's intro, but otherwise I'm cool with the time jumps. I need to re-read the first couple of books again.

I wanted to see more of him annoying Father Beocca. He's a bit more of a smartass in the book. I also wished they showed Brida's intro. MILD BOOK SPOILAGE: In the book, the Vikings are in East Anglia and are choosing several children to be slaves. A woman thrusts Brida forward, offering her as a slave. Brida snatches

No, but don't let that keep you from watching this show. It's really really good.

No, but one of his kids, Ubba, is there. Ragnar Lothbrok is worm food at this point. There was an element of revenge in the Great Heathen Army's invasion; Ubba and his brothers blood-eagled King Aella for his murder of their father.

Ah. I actually don't watch Community. Yeah, I know.
