The most confusing part of all this is that it took place in Denver.

I wouldn’t say that being conservative is that different from being a brat. A lot of the conservative ethos kind of requires looking at the world from a really child-like perspective, and being offended that things don’t break down as easily as they think it should.

If the bank erred in giving me an extra $50, I’d probably order some pizza to celebrate. If they erred in giving me an extra $50 billion, you bet I’d call the bank. You can’t actually do anything with that kind of money without the authorities noticing. 

Well if Biden gets his injunction on his black farm relief lifted then all this reperations talk might actually go somewhere. But I’ve watched too many seasons of America to hold my breath on that one.

We’re having to move about 60 miles east of where we live now to afford a decent house in So. Cal. Right now we’re 30 minutes out from LA, but even a modest house in our current town (and really, anywhere west of San Bernardino) is 500k+. I have no idea how people do it. Even our little condo got a 380k offer on it…

We have been a colorblind culture in the United States military for almost 200 years.

Another, very sobering reality is the number of dead Americans who once filled a large number of these low-paying positions. Those that had to deal with the no-maskers, and in close contact no less. These are the people who got sick first, and let’s be real about the ability to have a healthy body when you’re not paid…

Excuse me while I go watch Norma Rae and remember that companies won’t give us shit unless we basically pull it from them tooth and nail. 

One other point: unemployment isn’t a complete replacement for wages; it’s only partial.

Literally cackling at the idea that $50k is enough to have a nice car, a big house, two kids, and Master’s degree debt.

The idea that in 2021 a job could possibly pay someone $7.25 per hour is fucking ridiculous. And to think there are politicians against raising it.
