I hate that this and In the Heights are coming on the same year, since critics love pitting movies slightly similar against each other, but ITH is the ones us Latines are looking forward to, the music, the story and everything feel more significant and contemporary, plus majority Latines cast and creative heads.

If these incidents were anything else, the sheer numbers would classify it as an epidemic.  It is a systematic problem with policing.  The CDC should be involved.

So, obviously, for most of human history expecting parents couldn’t know the baby’s biological gender. They might have hoped for a boy or a girl but there was nothing else for them to do but to prepare for “a” baby.

I basically feel bad for everyone but the cops. The mom didn’t do anything wrong. Her daughter appears to have been abused and she did the right thing trying to protect her. The kid was alone in a bathroom. The cops needed to de-escalate and they didn’t. 

This exchange is a textbook example of, “this woman is too uppity and sassy, she doesn’t know her place, but I’m gonna teach her”.

Collins is the type of white person who has no problem calling a white person by their middle name if that’s how they prefer to be addressed, but Goddamnit he will not address a black/brown as doctor or a trans person by their preferred name/pronouns. That is a bridge too far!
