I had to go to the bank today. The staff wore gloves and I used their hand sanitizer on my way in and out. That was quick and painless.

Yeah, when I was on unemployment, my benefits were the max amount for my state and they were about $2K a month. For people who are check to check and suddenly have no income, a grand isn’t going to do much. It’s better than nothing, but it’s certainly not going to cover everything.
It is good. She also does work in schools around anti-bullying. My friend is a teacher and met her through that work and had very nice things to say about her. (My friend teaches middle school so the students didn’t really know about the scandal.)
I had a great uncle whose real name I didn’t learn until I was in college. Absolutely everybody called him by his nickname, which he had since basically birth (his sibling gave it to him). Even after I learned it I called him Uncle [Nickname] because nobody called him by his government name. His nickname was on his…
I just finished watching the show and I absolutely love Lauren and Cameron. For one, Lauren seems like someone I’d be friends with - she seems like a really fun, authentic person. When Cameron was about to propose, she said “Holy shit,” and I died laughing. She said “Dammit” during the wedding and apologized to the…
I just listened to that! When the wife said they should appeal to 45 because they’d voted for him I was like “Girl, what?” I think there have been a number of stories about Latinx folks who voted for 45 and then were shocked when they were deported.
I know this isn’t the point but he looks like he’s wearing a mask. That patch of skin by his ear is three shades lighter than the rest of his face.
Also, is the company ruined? Like, are the doors still open and folks are going to work every day? Companies get new leadership and are just fine. He has a pretty grandiose sense of self-importance, which isn’t surprising.
I don’t think I’ve had an assigned seat since elementary school. It often happened that I would sit in or near the same seat every class but that was just because I tend to be a creature of habit, not because the seat was assigned.
Right. There are measures in place to validate checks. Such measures don’t involve calling the cops.
Didn’t Marla Maples say he hinted about that when she told him she was pregnant with Tiffany (who he clearly barely knows)? Like she told him she was pregnant and he asked what she was going to do about it?
I was in a meeting a couple of years ago and the white guy next to me (around my age, both in our 30s) struck up a conversation and announced to me, apropos of nothing, that he was in a very senior position and had no experience. He wasn’t ashamed or anything - he framed it like “Isn’t that a hoot?”
I follow this (white) woman on Twitter and LinkedIn, Liz Ryan, who is a career HR person and her whole thing is basically “workers, take back your power; corporations, cut your shit out.” And recently she tweeted (I’m paraphrasing) “if you ever sat in a meeting of the c-suite, you wouldn’t be intimidated by it…
I know a bunch of people whose whole (modest) income is cobbled together from gigs, and more who have a second job because they don’t make enough at their full-time job. They’re working but they’re not doing well.
I have a similar sports bra. It’s excellent for keeping my D cups from bouncing but it’s a nightmare to put on and take off. It’s racer back with a hook and eye closure and on top of that, the straps are adjustable via holes in the top of the bra and velcro. Once you get it on it’s not going anywhere, but it feels…
I used to have to go to the UK for work. British food is not good. Guinness is better over there though. Smoother.
Yep. I remember in one of the debates, Kamala said basically this minus the Jiffy Lube part. “It’s great [that the stock market is doing well] if you own stock!” If you’re working two and three jobs just to get by (not ahead; by), who cares what the stock market is doing? How is that making your life better?
Keke Palmer summed it up best.
Burpees are traaaaaaash.
I used to work for a company that did summer hours so we had half-day Fridays every week between Memorial and Labor Day. I would go to the gym for a leisurely workout, then get all my errands done. If I was traveling, it felt great to have a full Friday afternoon and night wherever I was going. I loved it. It felt…
