Duck face =/= selfie. Top down =/= selfie. Are you just objecting to those sorts of shots or any self-portrait?

Interesting. I find my family’s old self-portraits to be fascinating. There’s been tripods and timers for over 100 years, you know.
Given the demographics of Islam in the US, pretty easy to double down and torch a primarily black-attended mosque. I shouldn’t give the hate-filled bigots any ideas....
That’s the strange thing to me - Houston has to be one of the more diverse cities on the planet. How do people who live among such diversity find the hate for someone different who is their neighbor? They should be used to living near other cultures by now.
Eh, could be an atheist asshole as well. There’s a lot who hate religion in general and Islam most of all.
$20K for a grad student? Damn, I’m jealous. Back in the old days when I was in grad school I had to live on $750/month!
Yuck. Who wants a house full of whatever’s on the soles of people’s shoes?
Can you kindly provide a single example of a place in Japan where it is legal for an adult (in Japan, 20 or over) to have relations with someone under 16? Again, if by prefectural ordinance in Japan such a relationship is illegal everywhere in the country, what is the point of saying by national law such a…
Yes, but isn’t that the entire point here? The orginal reason the age of consent was mentioned was to discuss cultural differences between Japan and say, the US in terms of ages. What constitutes the age of consent between minors is really irrelevant in that context. The fact is that practically speaking, a person 18…
Conflicting, yes, but it is 13 absolutely nowhere in the country.
It’s not 13, though! It’s not “often” restricted, it’s universally restricted. It’s like saying the top tax bracket is 30% in Japan. Which it IS, except everyone also must pay 10% prefectural/muni tax, so the top tax rate is PRACTICALLY 40%.
Great, and that’s superceded by all other laws and regulations that make it illegal for someone over 18 to have sex with someone under 18.
Well, people under 20 can’t be prosecuted as adults regardless - there’s precious little chance that a 17 year old with a 16 year old boy/girlfriend would have any sort of problem regardless of the law on age of consent. Minor crimes (no pun intended) involving youths tend to be settled with the families rather than…
It’s 18. It is not 13. Most Japanese will tell you it’s 20 because people are still considered children until age 20 (can’t be charged with a crime as an adult, can’t smoke/drink, can’t vote).
13 is not the age of consent in Japan. It’s 18. 18 is also still legally a child in Japan (age of majority is 20).
13 is the age of consent for relations in Japan
13 is not the age of consent in Japan. It’s 18, and I could link plenty, plenty of news articles about men who have been prosecuted for having sex with girls younger than that.
A little older than that, but no more than 15 I’d say.
