Except there is a wild difference between Nazi propaganda and pointing out something that actually happened. Nazi propaganda about Jews was literally made up out of whole cloth. Saying ISIS is brutal and citing examples of that brutality aren’t the same.

They were at the time of the tweet. The Islamic State had all the trappings of a government. Territory, bureaucracy, leaders. Whether or not they were recognized as such by the UN is a different matter, but it had all the function of a government.

The irony of a someone using fighting words case law while calling people fascists (not that you did this, but other in the comments) is an absolutely fascinating lack of clarity. The case was whether or not calling someone a fascist was considered fighting words and the court ruled it was.

Wait, so are you saying that Daesh’s ideology isn’t as bad as Nazism? It is a lot better, because it has resulted in less dead people and that they are just as capable as the Nazis, but a lot less interested in conquering the world?

Yeah we should totally go with Europe’s version of positive freedom, because it has historically protected them from authoritarianism. Oh wait, Europe’s version of freedom (which is substantially different than Anglophone countries) has led to authoritarian hell scapes literally dozens of times.

It was a benefit to him.

So when I watch post terrorist attack footage on the news, would that fall into a similar category? I watched the lead up to the head chopping video, (ie the part where they request people in the west to repeat this) on cable news, in Europe. Why would the media have more rights than the public?

I seem to remember the people in Nuremberg were on trial for their actions, not writing about the actions of others. If you can’t figure out the difference, I can’t help you. .

Yes. I have. I’ve studied it fairly deeply. I am still unsure how you think authoritarian policies are the correct way to squelch authoritarians.

Neither do I, so please stop glorifying their authoritarian tactics.

Who is being incited to murder by an image of ISIS murdering people?

“Sigh. It appears we’re going to have to fight WWIII after all. Always some authoritarian dumbass fucking shit up for everyone else.”

It absolutely qualifies as satire. The government shouldn’t be arbitrating speech at all unless it is a direct call to violence.

It is ironic that some of the commentariat is cheering vociferously for a country prosecuting their opposition party.

So an equally bad ideology isn’t as bad because they are worse at achieving their goals?

Continental ideas of liberty are different than Anglophone ideas of liberty. Clearly, the continental ideas are far worse given their propensity to fall into authoritarianism. Hell, France became authoritarian immediately upon its founding.

33 Percent of the population supports her. That is the highest number the Nazis ever received in an election (when there were still free elections).

Their experience must not involve any history classes. Jailing her will have a similar effect to what happened when Hitler was jailed. Add to that, posting real pictures of what terrorist do isn’t substantially different than what the news does. If convicted, she will write her version of Mon Combat and France will

No. I am saying that banning hate speech is stupid, because you can’t actually ban hate. All you do is increase it by not allowing the value of counter argument to help extinguish it.

And nobody is complaining about them having those policies. I am complaining about the force of law behind them in Europe. Additionally, in speech cases, the punishment is the process. Charging a person for satire has the same chilling effect as punishing them. If you don’t have the substantial public outcry that the
