It sensed that you were about to shift (presumably by feeling your hand, and the direction it was about to go) and blipped and assisted you in the direction it was going (Top Gear lamented the C6 for the hard shifting).…

It blips the throttle when you're about to shift. At the reveal it had a regular shifter.
