This season has definitely been stronger than seasons 4 - 6, and I agree that the big dramatic arc is moving to be Nancy vs Silas (to put it simply), but before getting there, they've wasted so much time this season dabbling in plots that don't seem intended to go anywhere at all (Lindsay Sloane, etc), or setting up

Yeah, they essentially cut out all the poignancy and quiet moments… which are largely what make the series so successful.

I love love love AD, and I loved it when it was originally airing, but during the second season, when FOX was putting it on random nights, after a while I stopped trying to figure out when it would be on, as the characters just got way too wacky and cartoonish.
