FR-S / BRZ clamorers wanted a sporty, fast, cheap car but all they got was “sporty”. That’s why they didn’t sell all that well.

Eh, I like that he didn’t just slap on a set of over fenders and ZG nose.
Yeah that's the first thing I thought as well...
I’m not a grammar Nazi by any means, and jalopnik has done far, far worse, but apparently using that in place of who is not all that uncommon.
I’ve seen you mention that stancing a car on bags is the correct way to go about it, what makes you think that?
All the bagged cars I’ve seen usually rock a STUPID amount of front and rear camber, have dangerously stretched tires, and in general are just as unsafe or dumb as the next static ride. Just because you can…
Eh, there’s a difference between performing a little polish, maintenance, or simple motor swap vs. tackling a full on restoration.
Except that never seems to work :(

Speaking as the designated representative of America... No, we're not. It's the importers that are charging exorbitant amounts for an otherwise four to eight thousand dollar car. Granted, some here are buying them (for far, far too much) but I suppose a thing is worth exactly what one would pay. It's kind of a shame,…
Boom, called it! All naysayers need not apologize I knew I was right all along ;)
The opportunity is missed, of course they’re not going to do so. That being said they would have sold a lot more of ‘em if they did. We’re not asking for charity here, just a nice sports car that can take their Camry or Sienna in a straight line while also carving the corners up :D To me the Toybaru is the Silvia Q’s,…
The bottom line is what they should have done is simply release the base BRZ/FR-S at the low 20 price point, and a turbo/supercharged model at the WRX/loaded ST pricepoint. As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to buy a BRZ, I just went elsewhere since it could barely get out of it’s own way. If there were a turbo model…
As it currently stands I think they kind of missed their chance. The car has been out for years now, I doubt that this chassis will ever get the power and tires it deserves, and thus it will never get out of it’s sales slump.
Why, they have the lines and tooling, just not the demand.
Eh, I don’t see that happening really. They are two completely different animals and generally not cross-shopped. I mean, as it stands people go in to look at a BRZ because they like the idea of a RWD sports car, but ultimately leave the dealership with a WRX because for just a pittance more they get sooooo much more.…
They could start mass producing them if they sold more, they can sell more if they make a car worth purchasing :)
Kind of. The two groups are now...
Group one says it needs more power.
Group two says it doesn’t need more power it’s about the driving experience, but secretly wishes it did have more power, but could never let people know since they already bought one :D
They can win, they would just need to charge WRX money for one. The WRX is larger, AWD, turbocharged, everything. They just charge too much for the current BRZ/FR-S and the value isn’t there. They need to take the current model, drop the pricing to fall in line with the FiST and/or FoST, and then charge WRX money for…
I’m one of them, and yes there is totally something stopping people from adding power, well... Real power anyway. It’s called the factory warranty, and when/if I buy a new car I’d rather have both the power, and a factory warranty intact.
Sure it was marketed as being “highly tunable” but the reality is that it’s open…
