Checked to see, Jukes started in 2010. Glad to see it didn’t make the list.
I freakin love my 2011. Bummed I won’t get to upgrade to a new one ever here in NA.
The Kicks should have made the list tho’. I’m still angry the Juke died for it.
Glad the Death Troopers actually landed some hits and a few survived. Showed more menace than regular troopers.
This finale was fantastic and I’m so happy.
With what looked to me like another Holdo maneuver maybe? WTF?
To me that’s exciting though! It would require something different!
Palpatine also mentions his disappointment of a son.
But that vision worked best when he collaborated with others and tempered it.
They could, but it again goes waaaay too far for me. Especially since ANH established the no hyperdrives on basic TIEs thing.
Switch it out with the old Lambda shuttle from RoTJ! We even see the wreckage of one in the Death Star ruins scenes! He coulda grabbed one of those.
Those TIEs were specifically First Order Special Forces TIEs. They DO have hyperdrives.
I think the actual mechanics of the plot and the ideas behind them (taxation of trade routes! notwithstanding) was pretty good. But woof, that dialogue and editing and such. It’s a lot more difficult to be cool with them dying when you remember they are almost entirely made up of brainwashed people stolen as children.
You have listed a lot of great points and moments. Your post deserves A LOT of stars.
Counterpoint: I, a self-entitled whiny manchild that sees so much of myself in Kylo the misunderstood bad boy (and white!), he damn well better get some sweet sweet lovin from the female lead.
It’s both.
To expand, Palpatine - installed as the Chancellor, with allies like Mos Amedda, subverted the powers of the Republic in secret to accomplish the creation of the army. While at the same time he used the resources of the Sith - built up over a thousand years - to help this goal.
Some of my favorite plots in expanded…
I knew Chewie was alive because they NEVER cut to a shot of him in the transport.
And 3PO I kinda figured would be undone because the moment was not given nearly enough gravity.
I didn’t know the other bits.
For me, the hooks at the end of TLJ were:
Palpatine.
