It is. It was rather shocking when the original HW came out on Wii U, since Nintendo is usually pretty stingy with the Zelda IP. The gameplay can get repetitive, but there is an absolute ton of things to do and maps to play. It got ported to DS with some added features, and the whole thing got remastered for Switch

Matsuno and Ivalice are currently attached to FFXIV

Gotta say, even for the general consensus being what it is, I’ve always been a huge fan of FFXIII. Personally have completed it a handful of times willingly. But for sure I try and understand where people come from. It’s very limited, but kinda endearing at the same time. I get the story so much now that it actually

Final Fantasy XVI - Witcher Souls May Cry

Yeah, mostly because they finally got some fresh blood in the franchise. The problem with FF over the past twenty years is that it just hasn’t been allowed to do anything new because it was mostly the same guys (like Nojima, Nomura, and Kitase) deciding who got to work on it. It became a very closed off club where if

On one hand, I would get super hyped up if some of my favorites in the series got the nod, but on the other hand, I think that would take away from making XVI unique if it crossed over into the others. That seems better left for the Dissidia games (if they ever get around to making those good again)

I was watching the livestream like: “what is this Final Fantasy nonsense?” and then, boom. It was Final Fantasy, lol

He had to emphasize he’s a PRODUCER, he’s already got his hands full with XIV. The director is Hiroshi Takai who was the director of The Last Remnant and a co-director for XIV’s Stormblood expansion

Makes sense. At any rate, this looks way better than I was expecting, seems like they really upped their game from the first one.

Woot! It’ll be a while before I get a PS5 so definitely glad to see this.

Phew.

Well, this is the problem: FF has never BEEN high fantasy. It’s always been this weird, subversive fantasy. It’s why the games kept doing new things, adding new terminology, exploring new themes. The reason FF has stumbled is because it hasn’t gone anywhere; it stopped doing NEW stuff and trying to just rehash old

Mostly because it’s being done by Yoshida’s team, the only FF team with talent and self-awareness

I think I’ll keep an eye on it. FF 15 greatly suffered from its disastrous, decade long dev cycle. I’m hoping Square’s taken that as a lesson learned going into 16.

I was fine with the core gameplay. If they keep that without the garbage story telling and character development of XV, I’ll be happy.

I might be jaded by this industry, but there seems to still be a soft spot in me that is excited by hearing there’s a new FF in the works!

i know a lot of people have wanted the main series to return to high fantasy, but i’m not super into the art of this one. that said, it’s great for Squenix to announce a final fantasy game with (what I assume is) actual gameplay, so maybe this one will actually come out in my lifetime.

It’s been a long time since there’s been a truly classic Final Fantasy. This looks cool, and I hope it’s good when it releases in 2023.

Uh from the very beginning. “Let’s subjugate a people and steal all their art and culture to display in a sanitary safe place for us to enjoy without all those pesky natives about.”

It is pathetic when white women who previously wanted no part of any WOC beyond a cursory level suddenly find some ‘colored’ heritage or an ethnic name they can use to invade WOC spaces. Or a slot that should belong to a WOC. Not out of genuinely wanting to be a part of what was happening in those spaces but to
