Ears can't blink? I thought everyone was able to do this. I can easily block out any noise on my ears with some little concentration, the only downside being that it sounds as if a little bit of air is whooshing by your ear.

The way it's viewed by Christians is that it's not magic because God made it so. Since God created everything, he has the right to tamper with the very fabric of the universe, but magic is seen as an affront to God because it's a deliberate violation of his creation, bending things to man's will instead of God's.

The TARDIS taught River herself how to pilot her in the episode of "Let's Kill Hitler", which is before the events of "Day of the Moon" in River's timeline.
