Sorry but I'm still passing on this. I hate dubs. I much, much prefer subtitles.

Now playing

Meh. There's plenty of decent to excellent dick and pussy just around your neighborhood. Tim Minchin makes this reasonably clear in one of the best love songs I've heard in recent years.

LOUD VEHEMENT AGREEMENT!

Well I don't really know what it's like to be a virgin woman among experienced women friends.

I wish I had read something like this decades ago.

So it's really a story about someone so obsessed another person that they refuse to move on and find someone else? Frankly, I'm kinda tired of character premises like that. I don't find obsessives very sympathetic. Or, I would like it better if it was a story of growth and progression where the scientist matures and

I feel that Portal's lore about where GLaDOS got her name from seemed a bit dated to me. Disk Operating System? What hardware does that anymore? How about something less tied to any specific generation of hardware, like "Data Organization System?"

I'll be up front about this: I can't stand dubs. I want to hear the real actors voices emoting. That's just something dubbing can never capture. Dubbing, especially cheap dubbing, just sounds so comical to me. I shall always prefer subtitles, always, always, always.

I think that Stephenson is a master of number 7 and, for me, that' s what makes him so fun.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that. Apparently not enough people are going to pay attention to foreign movies because their alien ways and weird languages. Sigh. Audiences in the United States are just so profoundly conservative—or at least the powers that be in Hollywood think they are.

I love it when the evidence gives us something theory can't account for.

Yes, but we have many gedankenexperiments in quantum mechanics which were impossible to perform in the 1920s but, because of improvements in instruments, have almost all been done for real in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there already a trailer being passed around here by IO9'ers? And wasn't this movie recently made by Japanese film companies? So what is to be gained by making it again in Hollywood?

I'd prefer the tachikoma. And as soon as my mind was ready for it, I'd jump out of the human form.

I think that ordinary people shouldn't even be allowed to set passwords on these things. Passwords or, better, passphrases, should be generated randomly and written to a physical locking card. A few copies of this card should be made. One or two for your doctors, one or two for you and close family members.

Yes, I can empathize because that's been my experience too. I think that we must not be the only ones who feel this, you and I.

Mostly I want to get away from the limitations of the human brain. Evolutionary forces didn't optimize it well for modern or future society. I want to design a brain that doesn't have many of the urges that evolution bestowed on us. I want to see if consciousness is possible without all that.

There are lot of economic disparities that have be smoothed out before global government is possible. I'd say another century of development might be needed.

Well, we all have different motivations when thinking about this stuff.

A world government is still centuries away, but I think it will happen some day.
