Yeah, I think the largest part of the problem is messed up timing. Cause, then effect. Possibly some incorrect +/- on direction too.

The lights are nice, but why did they go to the trouble of using all those LEDS to get a uniform light, when an electroluminescent panel would do the same quite nicely? (Serious question - is there some technical reason, or is it more that LEDs are 'de rigueur'?)
Titan by Stephen Baxter uses this idea (sort of).

Unfortunately, those of us even considering these things are a distinct minority. The vast majority of the human race will just keep being ordinary, reproducing in the customary manner, and letting nature take its course. Humans just don't live long enough (yet...?) to think about the deep future as important.
My take on HUDs? Have a large panel on the dashboard behind the steering wheel that displays a big expanse of 1 colour. And that colour corresponds to your speed, eg going from red at 0km/h thru orange at 20, yellow at 40, green for 60 etc. There would be a learning curve, but since it is in your peripheral vision,…
I prefer the artistic styling of the originals as well - the girls have some individuality and character, rather than the "smile for the camera" same-ness of the newer versions. And what's with all the glitter?!
You don't actually want a Bell Rocket Belt; it can only fly for 30 seconds. So it's pretty much pointless besides being able to say "I've got a rocket belt".
Don't apologise, that's brilliant!
Excellent! You bet me to it.
Personally, I prefer the "Batgirl" symbol from "Batman & Robin" (1997). Or maybe it's just where the symbol was placed...
You know I can't grab your ghost chips!
I thought they looked familiar! Many of them do look like a 6" cardboard model (must be the camera angle?)
Make it from nitinol (shape memory alloy). Squash it flat however you like for storage; but come xmas, just chuck it in a sink full of hot water.
There are various (older, not as good) versions of this idea around on the internet, including this one, which is pretty close, from almost a year ago.
Cats are awesome.
IrDA had the advantage (over Bluetooth and WiFi) of no "pre-arranging"; set-up, pairing, whatever. Put one device next to the other, connection goes Ping!, you're all set. It was great for quick transfers of (admittedly, small amounts only) data between my phone and computer or some-one elses phone.
Arthur Stone (apparently) figured out the 4-sided to 6-sided versions, just by thinking about it! (Ie: not by trial and error with paper strips...)
Make them from strong cardboard and (loose) sellotape hinges, for better durability. The triangles also (relatively) rotate somewhat, if you're looking for arty patterns.
