As a safety manager, this story makes me laugh. 50,000 man-hours is a ridiculously low number. At no point in his email does he offer any substantial information about the safety program or its measurables. This guy needs to slow his roll, contact the safety department and present some numbers.

The difference between invoice and sticker has nothing to do with manufacturer rebates. Rebate money comes out of Mazdas pockets, not the dealerships.

It never goes that way.

Every car company sells cars that way. It's splitting hairs, but it's an important hair to split.

Any time you switch body styles you always have a sales dip. High-end models with lots of options always ship first. Your regular customer who buys a base model or mid-level has to wait almost a year to get a car in their price range.

I can't agree with you that the interior materials aren't up to snuff.

You got it right Tom. Price is always a factor when it comes to compacts. The 3 isn't as cheap as other cars in the same class and Mazda can't build them fast enough to sastify all the demand for different engine/trim levels.

There is very little room to negotiate on ANY 3. The difference between invoice and sticker is less than $1,000 on most variations.

Except that there are no 2003 Mazda3s.
