im glad we got another amazing pearl face
It was pretty awesome that her mom was Vilanelle though
People in Star Wars are hilariously open to throwing their children to fate.
are you sure? i think we should just trust her one more time.
The original Dr. Smith (Jonathan Harris) was really the only reason to watch the original series. Gary Oldman gave the role his typically excellent villain treatment in the 1998 film. But Parker Posey is brilliantly blazing a new trail.
It’s not a non-issue. The character is extremely hard to care about and that is one large part of it. But then when you add flat, minimal dialogue, very little in the way of actual body language and a generic, underdeveloped personality, it makes for a blank of a title character that is hard to give a damn about.
Gotta hand it to Bob’s Burgers, a decade of consistently funny seasons without a single dip in quality. No jumping the shark, no reliance on guest stars, no OMG moments... 100% funny character driven comedy with loads of heart to boot.
“Another Christmas Eve screaming through a fence”
Counterpoint: I really liked the pre-crisis DCU (comics).
It was a pretty mind-blowing idea, that every story that COULD be told WAS happening somewhere in the infinite multiverse, and more importantly, it was a lot of fun, being able to have the Flash meet the Golden Age Flash, for instance.
It was also an elegant…
I’d argue that the original Crisis on Infinite Earths only helped the DC universe a little bit and then hindered it a lot. Sure, there were a lot of alternate Earths and a lot of stuff to remember and combining the JSA and JLA into one world was a good idea (even if it did result in the Hawkman Problem), but…
As for the ‘no particularly good reason’ for Pariah in episode one this episode actually explains it: Anti-Monitor only has him pop in to witness tragedies. Hence being there, out of nowhere, for Oliver’s death and vanishing again for last episode.
Yeah that would be even more ammo for Lena if she ever learned about that.
The Flash of the 90s was of course the most heartbreaking cameo especially with that flashback with Amanda Pays. And Lucifer was the most fun on (hitting on both Mia and Diggle). But I have to say that I loved seeing Ashley Scott Huntress and even more hearing Dina Meyer’s Oracle (Dina is on a CW show too so maybe we…
It’s probably best to assume that the Earth of Black Lightning is a different one, and that the people who live there just use their own numbering system.
It reminds me of the heartbreaking perfect ending to Arrival, where Amy Adams is well aware that if she enters a relationship it will lead to a daughter who will die far too young, but happily does it anyway because the good will far outweigh the bad.
Honestly, even if the finale is awful, this series was worth it. At least a handful of the episodes are masterpieces and the rest have all been great. I’m confident they can stick the landing, but either way this is a massive win.
“Redolent of thwart” is my second favorite Tomism of the season, because yet again, he has NO CLUE how to react to what’s being proposed, so his brain says “comment without really saying anything” and he vomits that out.
(My favorite Tomism from the season was when Logan floated the Pierce acquisition and Tom, having…
