The single shot endless argument, however, had a context considering the event that placed them all together. One thing the story didn’t really explore enough was poltergeist activity, the idea that Nell is doing it all herself, and the house wants her because she’s so good at it.

I really don’t get Theo taking off her gloves. Does that mean the house gave her the psychometry for some reason? All it did was wall her off from its temptations (and she constantly felt the ghostly chill), as it did Theo in the movie. Her gift was her own.
