Of course it is so hard to generalize this topic. It is what you experience at your LOCAL dealership. Like, my Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge dealership was far better than my local Honda or Toyota. My Volvo is excellent. But, for the sake of clicks and for the amusement of the commentariat, let the generalizations begin!

Enthusiasm and interest: Dear old Dad.

This was a job for Fancy Kristen (sad face, trombone).

Yes, but that’s not what you said. If you want to rewrite your article in the comments section, that’s fine.

I bought my current car, and special ordered previous cars just to escape black interiors. I live in a cool climate, so heat isn’t the real issue. They just look dirty and cheap to me.

^This^.

While drinking wine out of oversized glasses while sitting on an overstuffed couch in their sweat pants, while somehow maintaining a size 2 figure, duh.... (I learned that from TV)

It just needs the “knee cap harvester” that beautiful Aurora has. And the easy-wash covered headlights for quick pedestrian blood removal.... Now that’s thoughtful engineering.

Some great examples here (love that Sundance). But I’m stunned no Jalop posted this (angels signing):

I did really like those too. Something about them. I had a friend who had a black one that he shipped to Germany but didn’t realize he had to update the lights etc. It just sat in his garage for 4 years until he went back to the US. Shipped it back again. I visited him 4 or 5 years later and he was still driving it. I

I had a 91 Sundance America. No options, everything manual, crank, twist. Not even a radio until I put one in.

I thought of the interiors, rubber etc. Yes, the steel is recycled. I am not aware of the glass, vinyl, rubber, carpet etc being recycled. Of course I am wrong a lot.

Of course reparability and durability are important. But technology advances. Just think if all the cars on the road today were 40 years old. Engines, efficiency etc have come so far. So, am I saying dump cars every 5-10 years? No. But there are tradeoffs. Sure, less landfill space for a triple longevity car, but

I get tested at work every 2 weeks and I stay safe. So I pretty much know I am good. But surprises happen. My Dad has cancer that is in his bones and lymph, no telling how long he has. So I need to do a calculation, going to see him for what could be one of the last times, but also risking bringing covid into his
