I never thought they could Far Away from RDR1 but they did it with Cruel Cruel World. The campsite chores and conversations were what made that ending and epilogue hit so hard.

NV was excellent. I mostly rate TOW so badly because the marketing went out of its way to compare itself as a spiritual successor to NV.
It was probably the most mediocre game that year. The hype and praise was purely based on the hate for Bethesda’s FO76 debacle. One of those games which came out at just the right time from a developer with a devoted fan base of critics.
I think Game Pass gives them a lot of leeway. Spending 70usd is a lot more than paying a 10usd subscription.
Also where I was from JRPGS usually meant clunky combat or turn based, busy UIs and screenshots/videos doing the very worst job of marketing them
I agree with a part of your statement but also disagree with a lot of it.
Yeah I went through the ps2 and 360 era and 90% of the playstation 4 era hating JRPGs. I think Bravely Default really killed them for a long time and all your critiques were true.
I own a few but man that is so much plastic waste and plastic is non biodegradable. Horrible.
God I dont get the hype for DQ. It is a series so heavily stuck in the past. It honestly is worst than Pokemon in refusing to budge from its formula.
God I loved her in the movie.
I think the biggest difference is Bungie truly believed in Destiny as a concept. Anthem and The Avengers were cynical attempts at making a quick buck.
Yeah I was among those disappointed with ER to a certain extent because of this. After Sekiro I kinda hoped ER would also be another big departure but it instead regressed to the comfortable formula. Also with the glut of copycats I find myself burned out on those kind of games now.
Preparing myself to cry again. Left Behind is such a heartbreaker.
I think this is one of the aspects the second game really handles well. It goes a lot deeper into Ellie and Abby's psyche while (especially in Ellie's story) trying to use the gameplay to talk about how far she's fallen into that hole.
Again Sony fucked up the first half of the PS3 gen so bad that Xbox was kicking their ass. The major difference is Sony actually worked to make the PS3 a success with better pricing, good games etc.
I love that for all the bullshit MS is spinning to look like the good guys the less support I am actually seeing for this deal. They’ve literally made themselves look incompetent. If I were the regulators that would be a red flag.
Exactly! I enjoyed the game but P5R cannot do romance at all. It is mechanical and transactional and none of the NPCs truly grow beyond their trope.
Persona cannot handle romantic relationships in general. Easily the weakest part of the series. It is all mechanical.
as per Eurogamer it is very comfortable. but as the author said YMMV with VR
I think Edgerunners (second half drags on for a while) and Chainsaw Man (this one was just so bad and boring) are way too high. Violet Evergarden way too low, especially since proper romantic anime are so rare. I agree with MP100 though I would put VE and Demon slayer in second and third.
