Interesting article; but obviously written by someone who knows very little about cricket history. The most famous run out in cricket occurred when the lowly West Indies tied the mighty Australian team in the First Test of the 1960 series. Ian Meckiff (AUS) was run out by Joe Solomon (WI) with the scores level to…
You can be certain but you’d be certainly wrong.
Its not entirely accurate that the “WICB is giving players no money or support.” The issue is that the WICB and the players’ union agreed to reallocate funds that would nomally go to the team into developing the game at the grass-roots level by funding the Caribbean Professional League. Of course, most of these…
I hate that stupid “Champion” song just as much as I hate hearing “Rally ‘round the West Indies” used as an anthem. Its long past time for the WICB to commission a proper cricketing anthem. Every other country has an anthem - I still get a thrill hearing the Barmy Army sing Jerusalem - while the West Indies uses a…

For those who are interested, these fielding positions aren’t normally used in T20 or limited-overs cricket where the aim is to score as quickly as possible, but are quite common in Test cricket.
Cool to see cricket discussed here. I originally from Guyana and my wife is Trinidadian. Oddly enough we tend to root for the U.S. in football (soccer) but its nice to see the T&T team come back into prominence.
To really understand the England - West Indies cricket rivalry I suggest watching the movie “Fire in Babylon.”
Well, its difficult to learn the fielding positions like slips, silly mid-off, short leg, long leg, fine leg, third man, etc without actually watching a match live and in person.
I’m so not in your demographic since Colin Croft (look him up) was the head prefect of the high school I attended as a 10-year old in 1970. I dreamed about playing for the West Indies but my family - like many middle class Caribbean families - migrated to the U.S. But I still “bleed Maroon” and follow the West Indies…
Do you need a low to legislate that people be “decent to other humans?”
