I want to get my family into D&D but I don’t know how to start since I’ve never played. Any good directions?

DnD is something that I seriously wish I had been introduced to as a kid, not as a college student with absolutely no free time.

The amount of time I’ve spent on Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, and Yoshi’s Wooly World alone have far more than justified the price of the console. (Plus, it’s a huge bonus that my 5- and 7-year old kids play these right along with me.)

I know, I had the most fun with this console of the current generation. Wii U has provided more fun than a remastered Halo series, Fallout and Elder Scrolls-such irony Switch is using it. Only Gears 4 has stood out.

For those people on the fence regarding this console, and are now facing the final opportunity to purchase one: I love my Wii U dearly and I genuinely believe that anyone else who loves Japanese games will also. This isn’t a professional marketing shill but... there’s quality software here.

I found leveling honor and artifacts to be a somewhat fun progression. At least with those you get out them what you put in (ie time). I wasn’t playing super seriously so i didn’t feel compelled to keep up with everyone else.

Yeah. Honestly, today we all need our comfort games, or whatever media we consume. In my case, it will be some Diablo 3 later. Maybe some Pokémon.

wow, video games are getting super realistic in 2016.

This is the least escapist fantasy has ever been

Neither I, nor the original article, attack his belief system. In fact, the original article goes to great pains to say that the realities of the code do not necessarily reflect the beliefs of the developer. The only person who stated that they did was the developer himself. However, the code itself is not above

I don’t see the attempt at character assassination here. The article is almost entirely focused on the programming and resulting representations, and even includes this disclaimer:

You missed the part where RPS has repeatedly recommended RimWorld to its audience. And the only negative article they published was an examination of specific mechanics. That’s not trying to ruin a business, that’s called critique, and every consumer product is subjected to it.

If you read the original article, it’s the actual systems, not variable names, that are examined and critiqued. And the systems he used are not properly represented, and based off of badly flawed data that he chose through self-selection bias.

It’s an article. One of millions that will be written around the world today. They’ve written on this site positively about the game before, they will likely do so again. One article, with criticism (even if that criticism is in error), is not an attempt to destroy a developer.

The “all women are up for sleeping with other women” thing isn’t inclusiveness. It’s just straight male fantasy.

Let me get this straight.

I missed the part in the article where the dev was arrested and all his assets impounded, his business shut down and his bank accounts seized?

Why is straight up commentary labeled “Thought Police”? Obviously, someone did an investigation and presented the results. I disagree with your characterization.

You’re against “thought police” but are upset about the idea of..... someone having a thought.
